Refund Policy
The short version: if you have not used it, you can have your money back within 14 days and we will not ask why. If you have already cut clips on the plan, the work has been done. If something we made came out broken, that is our problem and the 14 days do not apply.
The policy at a glance
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Unused plan, within 14 days | Full refund, no questions asked |
| Clips already cut on the plan | Not refundable, the compute is spent |
| Output was faulty | Re-cut or refunded, at any time |
| Charged twice | Refunded immediately, whatever the date |
| Renewal you did not intend | Refunded if the new period is unused |
| Service was down when you needed it | Plan extended or refunded, your choice |
Cancelling a subscription
Cancelling and refunding are two different things and we want the first one to be genuinely easy, because a cancellation flow designed to wear people down is a dark pattern rather than a business model.
- Open your account page and choose Cancel subscription. It takes one click and there is no exit survey.
- Or email [email protected] from the address on the account and we will do it for you.
Cancelling stops every future charge immediately. You keep Pro access for the remainder of the period you have already paid for, and nothing renews after that. Cancelling on its own does not refund the current period; if you want that too, ask, and the rules below apply.
The Founder plan is a one time purchase rather than a subscription, so there is nothing to cancel and no recurring charge exists at any point.
Why the line is drawn at usage rather than the calendar
Most refund policies are written around a date because a date is easy to administer. Ours is written around whether the thing you paid for has actually been delivered, and the 14 days sit behind that as a backstop rather than as the main rule.
Every clip costs us real money at the moment it is made. The source has to be fetched from YouTube, decoded, cut to your exact timestamps and re-encoded into the format you asked for, on machines we rent by the hour. None of that is recoverable once it has run. It is not like a downloadable file, where a refund costs the seller nothing.
So the rule cuts both ways, and it is meant to. Bought a plan and changed your mind before using it? That cost us nothing, and keeping your money would be indefensible. Cut fifty clips and then asked for a refund? The work was done, delivered, and the files are on your drive.
How to request a refund
There is no form to fill in and nobody will try to talk you out of it. One email does it.
- Write to [email protected] from the email address you paid with, or use the contact page with that same address.
- Say that you would like a refund. You do not have to explain why, and we will not ask you to.
- If something went wrong with a clip, tell us what happened. Not because it is required, but because we would like to fix it.
We action refunds the same day we read the request, and we will email you to confirm when it has gone out. After that the timing belongs to your payment provider, which for a card is normally three to five working days. Refunds are always returned to the original payment method, in the original currency, because that is the only route your bank will reconcile cleanly.
When we refund outside the 14 days
The window is a floor, not a ceiling. There are situations where we refund regardless of how long ago you paid, and we would rather write them down than have you wonder.
- The tool produced something broken. A cut that came out truncated, silent, out of sync, or corrupt. A download that never completed. If we shipped you something faulty, you get it re-cut or you get your money back, and the date is irrelevant.
- A renewal you did not intend. A subscription renewed, you had not used the new period, and you meant to cancel. Write to us. An unused month taken from somebody who forgot is not revenue we want to keep.
- You were charged twice. Duplicate charges are refunded immediately and without discussion. If you spot one before we do, telling us only speeds it up.
- The service was down when you needed it. If an outage on our side stopped you using something you had paid for, that period is ours to make good, by extending the plan or refunding it, whichever you prefer.
What we will not refund
Two things, and we would rather be direct about them than bury them.
- Clips you have already cut. Explained above. The compute was spent producing the file you now have.
- A video YouTube would not let us fetch. Some videos are private, region locked, age restricted without a signed in session, or removed. When our chain cannot reach one, no clip is produced, nothing is charged against your daily allowance, and there is nothing to refund. If you believe you were charged for a cut that never arrived, that falls under "the tool produced something broken" above and we will refund it.
Chargebacks
If something has gone wrong with a payment, please email us before opening a dispute with your bank. We can resolve almost anything the same day, and a direct refund reaches you faster than a chargeback does. We keep records of every transaction and every refund and we will always provide them if asked.
We are not trying to discourage you from using your card protections. We would simply rather fix the problem than argue about it through an intermediary.
Try it before you pay
The best refund policy is not needing one. YTCut works without an account and without payment, precisely so you can judge the cut accuracy and the output quality before any money changes hands. If the tool is not right for your video, you will know in two minutes rather than after a purchase.
The free tier has real limits, but the cutting pipeline is the same one paying users get. What you see is what you would be buying.
Questions people ask
Can I get a refund on YTCut?
Yes, if you have not used the plan. Fully refundable within 14 days of payment, no form and no justification needed.
How do I stop being charged?
Cancel from your account page in one click, or email [email protected]. Cancelling stops all future charges immediately.
Is the Founder plan refundable?
Yes, on the same terms. Unused and within 14 days means a full refund. It is a one time purchase, so there is no recurring charge afterwards and nothing to cancel.
What currency are refunds issued in?
The one you paid in, back to the method you paid with. Where a payment was made in cryptocurrency, the refund is returned in the same asset, at the amount received rather than at the current exchange rate.
How long do refunds take?
We action them the same day we read the request. Your provider then takes its own time, usually three to five working days for a card.
