Terms of Service
Effective: May 23, 2026. By using YTCut you agree to these terms. Read the important parts below.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using ytcut.org ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including visitors, free-tier users, and Premium subscribers. Where the Terms refer to "you" or "user," that means you, the person using the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted at ytcut.org/terms.html with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of the service
YTCut is a web-based tool that allows users to trim YouTube videos by specifying a start and end time, then download the resulting clip in one of several audio or video formats. The Service operates server-side: we fetch the video from YouTube, cut it using ffmpeg, and provide the resulting file for download.
The Service is provided on a free tier (one download per day) and a Premium tier ($2.99/month, unlimited downloads). Both tiers are subject to these Terms.
The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google LLC. "YouTube" is a trademark of Google LLC.
3. Acceptable use
You may use the Service for lawful purposes only. Permitted uses include:
- Personal use. Saving clips for your own offline viewing, study, or reference.
- Content you own or have rights to. Downloading your own videos or videos for which you hold the necessary license or permission.
- Fair use and fair dealing purposes. Commentary, criticism, education, news reporting, and research, where applicable under the law of your jurisdiction.
- Creative reuse with permission. Clips from content published under Creative Commons or other open licenses that permit downloading and remixing.
- Podcast and content production. Creating clips for use in your own original work where you have the necessary rights.
You are responsible for determining whether your specific use is lawful. If you are unsure, consult a lawyer familiar with copyright law in your jurisdiction. We cannot give you legal advice about your specific situation.
4. Prohibited uses
The following uses are prohibited and will result in immediate termination of access:
- Infringing commercial redistribution. Downloading copyrighted content you do not own and selling, licensing, or distributing it commercially.
- Bulk automated downloading. Using scripts, bots, or automated tools to submit URLs or download clips at a volume exceeding normal human use.
- Circumventing rate limits. Creating multiple accounts, rotating IPs, or using proxies to exceed the free-tier download limit.
- Reselling the service. Building a product or service that wraps YTCut's functionality and charges end users, without our written permission.
- Scraping. Programmatically extracting data from the Service's interface or endpoints for any purpose other than making a download request.
- Illegal content. Downloading or distributing content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or ours (for example, content involving child sexual abuse material, content that violates export controls, etc.).
- Harassment and abuse. Using the Service in connection with targeted harassment, doxxing, or other abusive conduct.
- Interference with the service. Attempting to overload, attack, or otherwise disrupt the Service's infrastructure.
5. YouTube's Terms of Service
YouTube has its own Terms of Service at youtube.com/t/terms. YouTube's Terms prohibit downloading content from YouTube unless YouTube has given explicit written permission or a download button is provided by YouTube for a specific video.
By using YTCut, you acknowledge that you are aware of YouTube's Terms and take personal responsibility for your compliance with them. YTCut provides a technical capability; the legal responsibility for how you use it rests with you.
6. Intellectual property
6.1 YTCut's intellectual property
The YTCut website, including its design, code, text, and brand elements, is owned by YTCut and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our written permission.
6.2 Content you download
YTCut does not claim any ownership over the YouTube videos you process through the Service. The content belongs to its original creators and rightsholders. We are a processing tool, not a content provider.
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the rights, licenses, or permissions necessary to download and use the content you process through the Service. We make no representation that any specific content is available for download without restriction.
7. Rate limits and fair use
The free tier is limited to one download per day per user (measured by IP address). This limit exists to keep the Service financially viable and the infrastructure stable for all users.
Premium subscribers ($2.99/month) have no daily download limit, subject to fair use. We reserve the right to throttle or suspend any account, including Premium accounts, that generates traffic volumes consistent with automated or abusive use rather than individual human use.
We may adjust rate limits at any time. Premium subscribers will receive at least 14 days' notice before any reduction in their tier's limits, via email to their registered address.
8. Premium subscription
The Premium subscription is billed monthly at $2.99/month via Stripe. You may cancel at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months.
If a payment fails, we will attempt to charge the card again. If payment remains unsuccessful after three attempts, your account will revert to the free tier.
We reserve the right to change the price of Premium with at least 30 days' notice to existing subscribers. If you do not agree to a price change, cancel before the new price takes effect.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time. YouTube changes its infrastructure regularly, and those changes can affect whether specific videos can be processed. We cannot guarantee that every video will work.
No warranty of fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the Service meets your specific requirements or that any clip produced will be suitable for your intended use.
Third-party services. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services including YouTube, Cloudflare, and Stripe.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, YTCut and its operators will not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use or inability to use the Service.
- Loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of business opportunity resulting from Service downtime or errors.
- Any legal liability arising from the content you download using the Service.
- Any damages resulting from unauthorized access to our servers or your account.
- Any damages caused by third-party services including YouTube API changes that render specific videos inaccessible.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. In no event will our aggregate liability to you exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $10 USD.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless YTCut and its operators from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights including intellectual property rights; or (d) any claim that content you downloaded caused damage to a third party.
12. Modifications to the service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time without prior notice. This includes adding or removing features, changing supported formats, adjusting rate limits, and taking the Service offline for maintenance.
We will make reasonable efforts to notify Premium subscribers of significant planned changes via email, but we do not guarantee advance notice for all changes.
13. Termination
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms, abused the Service, or engaged in conduct that we reasonably believe harms the Service or other users.
If your Premium account is terminated for a Terms violation, you will not receive a refund for the remaining period.
You may stop using the Service at any time. For Premium, cancel through your account settings.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware.
Before initiating any formal dispute, you agree to first contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve the matter informally. We will make good-faith efforts to resolve disputes within 30 days of receiving written notice.
15. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, DMCA Policy, and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and YTCut regarding the Service. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings, whether written or oral.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
